Getting ready for the season
I found this cute foam gingerbread house on clearance at Michael's (like $3). We always make a gingerbread house with frosting and candy, but I thought we'd have a practice run with this one:) I thought it wouldn't be quite as messy - I think I was wrong, but at least it wasn't as sticky. I think we're ready to tackle the "real" gingerbread house now:)
Happy Thanksgiving
We had a small easy Thanksgiving this year. Most of our family was out of town - my uncle and aunt are in Ethiopia on a Missions trip, my cousin is in Chicago with her new husbands fam, my brother and Amber were with her fam, and Bobby's family was in Texas. So we opted NOT to cook and ordered our feast from Marie Calendars for my clan of 6 and my Mom and Grandma. It was easy, and delicious:) After our meal we helped Grammy decorate her Christmas tree.

Black Friday
Crazy... yes. Last night Bobby and I decided to save as much as possible on Christmas presents, and join the hundreds of other crazies for Black Friday shopping. We decided it would be easier to just stay up rather than only get an hour or two of sleep. So we tucked everyone in, I thawed out breast milk, and Grammy and Grandma Chris came to spend the night. We started with a 10:00 showing of New Moon while we waited for the stores to open. Oh yes... i LOVED it. Yes I am a Twihard. I loved the books:) I can't wait until July for the next one:)
Any ways, after the movie we booked it to Toys-R-Us. It opened at12, but we got there at 12:15. Hundreds and hundreds of people were in line. We waited about an hour and a half before we were able to get into the PACKED store. They did have some great deals. From there we headed over to Kohl's. We got there at about 2:30 am and quickly jumped into the growing line. By the time the store opened at 4am the line was clear past Marshall's. Again, we got great deals:) If you apply for a credit card, you get an additional 20% off everything. Our bill was well over $500 but we only paid $207...not bad.
However now... I feel like a zombie. It's noon and my kiddos are still in their jammies, because I just don't have the energy to bath and dress them. I'm counting down the minutes until naps so I can lay down.
Was it worth it you ask... oh yeah. We saved a ton, and it was totally fun hangin with my hubby just us - kinda felt like the good old days of college when we'd pull all nighters all the time. I just don't remember feeling so dead the next day!
